The Cartwright School (TCS) Emergent Curriculum (EC) is a set of hand-crafted lesson plans generated by the school's administrative team. This curriculum's approaches are based on Region 13's Early Childhood Outcomes and Prekindergarten Guidelines Alignment, Texas Pre-K Guidelines, and the Texas Infant, Toddler, and Three-Year-Old Early Learning Guidelines.
The TCS-EC is tailor-made for our school's Early Preschool (EP) classrooms because it focuses on strengthening a young child's development. Within this curriculum students have a chance to practice fine- and gross-motor skills, participate in art and science projects, and listen to stories every day! We emphasize that learning is a process, and the slightest bit of foundational growth is a success!
The Learning Box Preschool (LBP) is an educational state-aligned preschool curriculum filled with fun, hands-on activities, arts and crafts, and early literacy experiences for children three to five years old. The curriculum provides children with the necessary skills and concepts in pre-writing, pre-reading, math, science, social studies, music, creative arts, health, etc., in an enjoyable way. Learning Box Preschool is a professionally developed early learning program consistent with NAEYC requirements.

At TCS, our Pre-Kindergarten classes utilize Learning Box Preschool to build their foundational knowledge before attending Kindergarten. Each month has two themes and a set of letters and colors they will learn. LBP also incorporates patterns, number sense and recognition, counting, word chunks, sight words, and shapes.
In addition to the curriculum, the students in the Pre-Kindergarten classes practice primary sign language and Spanish.
